Google Suggest Helps you Discover Relevant Keywords and Key-phrases

Aside from the obvious search productivity, spelling monitoring, and awareness factors, Google Suggest also provides new perspectives on keywords and key-phrases that are "near" each other.

Phil Huff (co-inventor of UpSki) got me thinking about Google Suggest and some of the marketing and communication aspects of this new capability. The implications are interesting because the UI itself can be used as a key-phrase research tool. How Google does this is also worthy of exploration and ironically "suggests" that Google's technical teams continue to be creative.

Imagine you are trying to pick a title for a new weblog post about the use of VoIP telephony in small businesses. Typing a key-phrase like "voip small business" will display lots of other terms that you may want to consider. In just a few seconds, Google Suggest will give you a quick sense of other terms and search phrases that are likely to resonate in various search scenarios. Of course, there are many ways to get information like this, but this approach seems very productive, easy to use, and provides an immediate gateway to actual results that you may want to further investigate as you write.
