The Blogosphere and RSS aggregators have become a key part of online culture according to a new report from the Pew/Internet & American Life Project.
Weblogs are becoming a significant feature of the
Internet landscape. The recently published State of Blogging report
states that 27% of Internet users read weblogs and that 6 million Americans get
news and information fed to them through RSS aggregators. According to the
report, "This is a first-time measurement from our surveys and is an indication
that this application is gaining an impressive foothold."
The Growth of the Blogosphere
The blogosphere, to date, is composed primarily of individual, personal
weblogs. However, forward thinking companies are embracing
blogsites—collections of related weblogs and other syndicated content—to
establish high visibility within the rapidly growing blogosphere.
I spoke with a group of bloggers in Phoenix recently. What I found is that very few had any business from their blogs despite a lot of effort.
