Techno-terms have a habit of sticking -- Blog and RSS are simply the latest.

In 1985 I was showing a seemingly bright marketing executive how to log in to <a title="Compuserve" href="http://webcenters.netscape.compuserve.com/menu/" target="_blank">Compuserve</a>, one of the first useful "net-based" systems. I recall very clearly the executive saying "The term log in will never stick; it will be replaced by a different term or this [network] idea will never take off.".In 2003 I was demonstrating the first instance of a weblog running on the <a title="Whitepaper - What is MyST?" href="http://myst-technology.com/documents/papers/MyST%20WhitePaper%20-%20What%20Is%20MyST.pdf" target="_blank">MyST Platform</a>. It was (you gessed it) a marketing executive. He remarked "Blog? That'll never stick! I recently recieved an email reminder to "log in" to my Cingular account to upgrade some of my cell phone services. In the message, the marketing department casually reminds me that their network covers 270 million people in the US - presumably all of them will log in to their accounts some day. Cell -- now there's a techie term. Internet too, and Web.
